Qualification:

    • Matric, Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
    • Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic, plus experience with forklifts or similar material handling equipment; or Qualified Forklift Mechanic.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience pertaining to forklifts.
    • Code 8 driver's license (for Field Service Technicians)

  • National Diploma in Training and Development, Human Resource Management Development or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in learning and development or similar role
  • SDF Qualification

  • Skills Development Data Management:
    • Support the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) with Learning & Development (L&D) reports and timeous submission of Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR).
    • Assist SDF with extracting data from the Annual Training Reports and capturing data into relevant Sector for Education and Training Authority (SETA) data files.
    • Assist SDF with collecting learner documents for timeous registration on SETA system.
    • Support SDF with collation of evidence in preparation for the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) audit collaborating with the HR.
    • Ensure accurate recording of information, frequently maintain the records and accessibility.
    • Data management and accuracy involves compiling new information, verifying existing data, and generating reports.
    • Gather data and prepare information required for internal and external audits.
    • Facilitate Induction programme for new Apprentice intake.
    • Keep up to date with industry changes BBBEE, Skills Development and Skills Development Levies legislation and regulations.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Ensure all learner agreements, bursary agreements, etc. are completed and signed in accordance with the standards set for BBBEE audit and the SETA’s.
    • Support SDF with tax rebates claims and follow up with training providers on proof completion, accreditation status and certification.
    • Monitor if all information such as contracts, invoices, and correspondence are saved accordingly and available for audits.
  • Administration:
    • Take minutes during Skills Development forum (Training Committee) meetings and submit for review and sign off.
    • Assist the SDF with Learnership/Apprenticeship recruitment process driving the internal administration, and SETA administration processes.
    • Coordinate all training intervention
    • Collaborate with L&D team members and ensure that all invoices and attendance registers are available for reporting purposes and are saved on accordingly.
    • Provide administrative support to the SDF with the roll-out process of business compliance monitoring and statutory training.
    • Assist with ad hoc administrative support required by the SDF.

  • Overall responsibility to manage the team reporting to this position (manage team by means of continuous performance feedback, coaching and counselling to ensure ongoing improvement of performance, bi-annual performance appraisals per staff member, payroll information to be compiled and submitted timeously, monthly / weekly team meetings, achieving employee morale survey target, managing leave and absenteeism, implementing and driving HR practices in line with company strategic objectives, ensure effective inter-departmental and internal communication).
  • To carry out routine maintenance checks as directed ensuring that all necessary service parts are available prior to attending customers site, all quoted work to be highlighted by liaison personally, with the customer.
  • Proceed to customer’s premises as advised, report to the customer’s contact, locate equipment, diagnose fault, and once the fault has been diagnosed inform Service Coordinator and the customer of the approximate time of completion. Rectify any faults as required by the customer, ensuring that the machine is left operating in a safe condition, and that the work has been carried out to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Technical assistance / coaching and on-the-job training to all Field Service Team members; overall responsibility to ensure quality of service (always ensure optimum response time and professional service, evaluation of technicians’ training needs and ensuring lack of knowledge / skills are addressed).
  • Sound financial management of team in line with budget and department strategic objectives (ensure all company policies and set targets are met in the following areas: work in progress, service scheduling, debtors, profitability of maintenance contracts, warranty claims processing, service agreement growth targets, service agreements profitability, labor recovery targets, chargeable sales targets, team and department GP and contribution, management of overheads, managing debtors, perform service quality checks, vehicle (ASEC)and tool inspections, etc.).
  • Ensure OHSACT requirements are met on own and customer premises and that all regulations are adhered to.
  • Drive customer service excellence (build and develop strong, loyal relationships with internal and external customers, foster and maintain dedication to service excellence in every aspect of work carried out; ensure timeous feedback / communication to customers, ensure internal and external CSI targets are met, etc.)
  • Ensure team contributions are focused to grow department in line with company requirements.
  • Grow aftermarket customer base by visiting existing and new customers for service or maintenance contracts and attend to customer concerns.
  • Overall responsibility to provide scheduled (monthly, weekly, and daily) ad-hoc reports as might be requested by department manager (e.g. Kerridge-based reports from Marketing, Nominal Ledger, Point of Sale, Maintenance leasing and Management Accounts, etc.)
  • Ensure that the Controller/Manager is kept informed of your team activities and the estimated time required to complete any work so that they can plan the workload of the Service Department and update the customer accordingly.
  • Ensure that your team vehicle tooling and spares stockholding is maintained, and vehicle kept clean and tidy both inside and outside in accordance with ASEC standards.
  • Ensure that all documentation including completed Job cards on the tablet are sent to the Service Office immediately on completion.
  • Support to sales team and assisting with customer hand overs of new deliveries.

  • The minimum pass for all subjects is 50%
  • NCV Level 4 - Automotive Repair & Maintenance will also be considered
